Technogy, Inc., a privately held, Washington-based software
company is developing a new kind of software that automatically
and continuously enhances the access, distribution, and usability
of information.
The fundamental software architecture, is a knowledge management
framework based on self-organizing units called Intelligent
Distributed Evolvable Agents (IDEAs). The software uses feedback
from users to collaboratively map knowledge structures and deliver
relevant information faster.
In addition to optimizing resources to meet group needs, the
software creates unique agents to represent each individual. The
personal agents ensure that user's special needs for language
level and type, graphics styles, media preferences, and knowledge
levels are satisfied.
IDEAs are modeled after adaptive biological systems. The genetic
algorithms that form the foundation for the technology enable
Technogy's unique objects to behave like independent cells in a
fluid and changing environment.
Technogy's continuously adaptive objects convert static
information into active knowledge objects for the Internet,
intranet, and wireless. Specific applications include:
- Adaptive web pages that evolve based on users' needs
- Multimedia archives
- Software distribution sites
- Online reference or help desks
- Online publications and journals
- Sites that recommend resources or products
